![]() I do believe flutter is better performance wise and will be the future but the learning curve is much bigger therefore React-Native is the easier choice right now (and I like flutter better). In a year hopefully we see more flutter doc out there. But in the context of React Native vs Flutter, it's foolish to view this as a. So yes, Flutter's desktop app API is in early stages of development. Further, React Native doesn't have ANY support for desktop apps. So if you are going to be doing something very complicated, I suggest React-Native for now. The caveat you mentioned in bold is 'HIGHLY ignored' because people don't care about desktop apps. Right now I'm trying to do a flutter app using an API for a CRUD functionality and the amount of documentation is very scarce. React Native, Firebase Firestore, Firebase storage, Redux, Expo. In my experience, if you are going to be using an API, and or are going to be doing heavy state management (which most apps do) React is easier to plan around, given that you have Redux, MobX etc for state management and the amount of documentation out there is endless. (not using expo, and I don't recommend expo). And even after learning kotlin (we are transitioning to koltin now) compose, realizing how similar kotlin and swift have. What I can say about cross-platform app development is that they all felt similar. React-Native has gotten better but I find it a little bit more hacky, I avoided it first because of the many errors I encountered when trying to do apps. I went from Ionic -> Meteor -> React Native for 2-3 years but ended up working on native android (java) and native ios for another 3 years. Also flutter imo, is so easy to get started, no fuss, really easy to compile and debug. Flutter will be better to make good UI's with good animations and really good performance (I already released an app in flutter). ![]() React Native Cons: Potential Growth: The app size can grow as you add more native modules. React Native Pros: Smaller Initial Download: React Native apps generally have a smaller initial download size. I have use both and what I can say is that both are good in their own way as someone commented. Larger Initial Download: Flutter apps can have a larger initial download size due to the included Flutter engine.
